Inspiration
The Birth of Venus, or Nascita di Venere, painted around 1485 by Italian Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli, depicts the mythological birth of the goddess Venus rising from the sea. Standing on a seashell and blown ashore by the wind gods, the scene blends classical ideals with graceful, stylized beauty and remains one of the most iconic works of the Florentine Renaissance.

Homage
In Botticelli’s Workshop, Botticelli’s frequent patrons the Medici brothers stop by to view the painting in-process. In reality, while historians agree that the painting was commissioned by someone in the Medici family, most historians believe it was Lorenzo’s younger cousins who actually ordered the work. Art by David Hueso.
