Inspiration
The Nightmare is a haunting oil painting by Swiss-British artist Henry Fuseli, first exhibited in 1782. The painting depicts a woman in deep sleep, with an imp perched on her chest and a ghostly horse (a literal night mare) emerging from the shadows. Despite the shameless pun, Fuseli’s work became an instant sensation, embodying the themes of Romantic horror and the supernatural.
