Inspiration

Woman with a Parasol – Madame Monet and Her Son, also known as La Promenade, is an oil painting by French Impressionist Claude Monet. Created in 1875, it portrays Monet's wife, Camille, and their son Jean, taking a stroll on a windy day. Likely painted outdoors in just a few hours, the work’s dynamic brushwork and masterful use of light exemplify the Impressionist movement.

Homage

Eleanor with a Parasol portrays Eleanor of Aquitaine strolling through the countryside with two of her sons, Richard and John, both destined to become Kings of England. John, true to character, is targeting his older brother with a slingshot. Extra History’s four-episode series on Eleanor of Aquitaine originally premiered in August of 2022. Art by David Hueso.
